September 11, 2023 Misfit Monday post: Misfit Monday!! I can't even count how many pictures I have of the sweet miss KELGAI ANN! And I'm not sure why it has taken me this long to get to her for Misfit Monday! She is the softest, most elegant, dahlia bloom I have ever grown! Complete whimsy in a perfect 4" package. I absolutely love her. And huge huge thank you to Patty @soaringheartdahlias for surprising me with a tuber of KELGAI ANN earlier this year. For those who don't know, this form of dahlia is called waterlily. Ideally waterlily dahlias are flat to saucer-shaped with rounded petals that are slightly cupped. KELGAI ANN was introduced in 2004 from D&M Kelly out of Queensland Australia. Not sure if the Kellys have introduced any other beauties but I would love to know if they have. This past weekend I got 1st place for my arrangement in which I used KELGAI ANN and I also used her before in one of my favorite arrangements at Nationals, although it didn't place. I will definitely be growing this amazing flower for years to come
