October 23, 2023 Misfit Monday Post for WOODLAND'S WILDTHING but relevant: Misfit Monday coming in late with WOODLAND'S WILDTHING a gorgeous B sized orange semi-cactus aptly named for its twisty turny wild petals! WOODLAND'S WILDTHING hit the Dahlia market in 2000, introduced by William Vance Mishler of Woodland Washington, a small town near the border of Oregon, for which all his dahlias are named. William, best known as Bill, was a member of the Portland Dahlia Society who exhibited and judged dahlias. He was also a trial garden director. The dahlia HOLLYHILL BILL M. (Last picture) was named after him by the Kennedy's in 2013 and sadly the next year Bill passed away from cancer. But his legacy lives on through the magic of dahlias. Long live the Dahlia King of Woodland. And long live these wild peachy orange blooms!!
