October 30, 2023 Misfit Monday Post: Happy Misfit Monday everyone! Today's feature flower is the absolutely gorgeous AC TWISP! If this beauty isn't on your wish list for next year add it now! Its twisty pink and yellow petals are outlined with the most perfect pink picotee that is beyond enchanting! I seriously could not get enough of this bloom this year! AC TWISP is classified in the ADS CHD as a small size, informal decorative, light blend (BB-ID-LB), introduced this year by Ken Greenway of Accent Dahlias. Over the past 15+ years Ken has introduced over 100 new dahlia varieties. Many with the prefix AC for Accent Dahlia and many without. When it comes to naming dahlias Ken likes to use names with multiple derivations. Upon asking about AC TWISP's name he replied that Twisp is one of his favorite places in eastern Washington with many memories and also Dick Williams, hybridizer of Skipley Dahlias, is from there. Anyone who has visited Twisp would agree that its beauty is well represented in AC TWISP. I am very fortunate living in the Pacific Northwest to be surrounded by many dahlia hybridizers and at only 7mins away Ken is the closest. Earlier this year I snapped this great picture of Mr. Greenway in his dahlia wake up room. Can't wait to see what he releases next!!
